Project 3: Bell Pepper Drawing

Work on in class on February 8 and 10
Due as part of Portfolio 1 on March 9

MATERIALS NEEDED:

White drawing paper, 18” x 24”
Graphite pencil
Ebony pencil
Eraser
12-pack of colored pencils
Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

Students will fill in a tonal chart.

To create project, cut up a sheet of white drawing paper so that you have 2 pages, each one 9” x 12”.

Make a contour drawing of the bell pepper provided in class on one page, and transfer this drawing onto the second page.

On the first page, shade the bell pepper contour drawing using ebony pencil.

On the second page, color in the bell pepper contour drawing using colored pencils.

The finished project will consist of two drawings, one in black and white, and one in color.

GRADE WILL BE BASED ON:

Accurate depiction of objects
Gradual application of value, utilizing full tonal range to describe objects
Realistic application of color and tonal variations
Care in execution
Effort spent on project
Following directions
